Last week we read many stories about community helpers and the job they do each day. Our writing project for the week was to write about what we wanted to be when we grow up.. Here is a sneak peek into what the children chose.

Fantastic Friday!
This past Friday, we had a wonderful guest reader come and spend the afternoon with us. My sister, Karen came to read There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow to our class. The children enjoyed the story and they all had to show her all the teeth they have been losing. It was an exciting time in the Giraffe room!

Hello Jammin' Giraffes! I hope everyone was able to enjoy the little bit of snow we received this past Saturday! Although there wasn't very much on the ground, it sure was pretty to watch! We have a busy week ahead! Lots to learn as we continue to work on our reading and writing skills as well as practice composing and decomposing numbers. Please return "Bags of Books" and Home Journals tomorrow, so that we can add new books and a new writing topic.
We are so excited about our field trip to the train museum on Thursday. Please remember to dress warm and comfortable. Class pictures will be taken on Friday, January 29th. Don't forget to send in field trip money and picture money by Thursday! We are looking forward to a great week in K3!

Hello Giraffe Families!
I hope everyone enjoys a long weekend! I can't believe we are beginning the third nine weeks of kindergarten! I have been so excited to see all the progress each child has made so far this year, and can't wait to see what the rest of the year holds! This week we are beginning our 2 new homework procedures. Reading and Writing at home will help strengthen our skills as effective readers and writers at school. Please let me know if you have any questions about the "Home" journal or the "Bag of Books" your child will bring home on Tuesday. Thank you for all that you do to make our class "Jammin' Giraffes"!

Hello Families! Happy New Year! I am excited to begin the second half of the year with my sweet kinderbabies! We have learned so much already this year! I can't wait to see the growth made by each student in the next few months! We are going to begin many new activities both in class and at home over the next couple of weeks. These activities will be strategies I will use to help prepare the students for 1st grade. This week our focus will be on writing in a writing journal. We will practice this skill together with guided instruction from the teacher, then move to the students working independently. I will send home a letter with home activities in a couple of weeks along with a few items that you can use to help make your child successful! Thank you for all your support! I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
